This course is the equivalent of the second semester of World History. This course examines major and significant events in world history between the years of 1921 and 2011, including, but not limited to: the rise of dictators, the rise of the Nazi regime in Germany, World War II, the Holocaust, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the Cold War, African independence movements, the fall of Communism in Europe, globalization and human rights. World History is approved by the University of California A-G as a history/social science (category A).
Upon completion of this course, the student is awarded 5 credits. Each credit corresponds to 15 hours of study. Of course, some students work more quickly than others, and some can devote more hours to study, so some students are able to complete the course in an accelerated rate.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
In this module, students gain a comprehension of the following:
- World War 2, the rise of the Nazi regime in Germany, the causes of the war, the major events and turning points of the war, the Holocaust, and the aftermath of WW2.
- The growth of a Global civilization, including the cold war, communism and China’s revolutions, Democracy vs. Communism, African independence, Latin America’s involvement in the cold war, and the fall of Communism in Europe.
- The contemporary world up until present day, including a timeline of the first decade of the twenty first century, 9/11 and the world, and the near future of our world.
