Accreditation & Credentials
The Academy holds the same institutional accreditations as top traditional schools—backed by the most respected accrediting bodies in education. Your diploma is recognized everywhere.
What Does Accreditation Actually Mean?
Accreditation is an independent quality review conducted by recognized educational organizations. It verifies that a school meets rigorous academic standards, employs qualified staff, and maintains effective governance.
Without accreditation, a school's diploma may not be recognized by colleges, employers, or other institutions. Credits may not transfer. Transcripts may be questioned.
With accreditation, your student's diploma carries the same institutional weight as any accredited public or private school in the country.
College Acceptance
Universities require transcripts from accredited institutions. Our dual accreditation means your student's transcript is accepted at over 300 universities worldwide—including every Ivy League school.
Credit Transfers
Credits earned at the Academy transfer to other accredited schools. If your student moves or transitions, their academic progress is fully portable.
Athletic Eligibility
NCAA eligibility requires coursework from an accredited school with approved courses. Our courses carry full NCAA approval—student-athletes can compete at the collegiate level.
Employer Recognition
For students entering the workforce directly, employers recognize diplomas from accredited institutions. Accreditation signals legitimate educational achievement.
The SVHS School System
Silicon Valley High School is accredited by Cognia as a school system—an organization authorized to create and operate multiple accredited schools under one institutional umbrella. Each school within the system inherits accreditation automatically.
Silicon Valley High School
Cognia-accredited school system since 2013. Authorized to create new schools that inherit institutional accreditation.
SVHS Academy
The premium full-time online high school for students pursuing a complete accredited diploma.
SVHS Supplemental
Individual courses for students enrolled at other schools who need flexible, accredited online options.
Both schools share the same curriculum, the same credentialed teachers, and the same accreditation standards. The Academy serves full-time diploma students. Supplemental serves students taking individual courses alongside another school. Courses in both carry identical accreditation, NCAA approval, and UC A-G recognition.
Dual Regional Accreditation
The Academy holds accreditation from two of the most recognized accrediting organizations in U.S. education. Both are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Cognia
Cognia (formerly AdvancED) is the largest community of education professionals in the world, serving over 36,000 institutions across 85 countries. Their accreditation process evaluates institutions against rigorous, research-based performance standards.
Silicon Valley High School holds system-level accreditation from Cognia—meaning SVHS is recognized as an accredited school system able to create and operate multiple schools. Both the Academy and Supplemental programs are accredited as individual schools within this system.
WASC
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of six regional accrediting bodies in the United States. WASC accreditation is the same credential held by California's top public and private schools, including those feeding into the UC and CSU systems.
Both Silicon Valley High School and SVHS Academy hold full WASC accreditation. This means transcripts and diplomas are recognized by universities across the western United States and internationally—the same accreditation held by leading California institutions.
